News Writing

This story was written in the aftermath of an extreme weather event in Salt Lake City. I was asked to help write a story the morning following this event with the goal to outline and inform readers what happened to our neighborhood due to the severe winds. This story was written when most of the city, including myself, had no internet or power. We needed to get all of our information, write, edit, and post the story within a few hours of waking up and receiving the news.  The morning was spent working off of our hot spots and reaching out to sources and gathering information through social media to put this story together. If I was not comfortable working under pressure and with tight deadlines, we would not have gotten the story out as fast as we did.  In the end, we were able to gather information, take photos of the damage, and put out an informational and well-written story within hours of starting the process.
