Profile Writing

For this story, I wrote about the ex Dean of Students, Dan Cairo, leaving his role at Westminster College after four years. He was a beloved member of the community, so I wanted to do my best to capture how much of an impact he made on our campus during his time as Dean of Students. I thought the best way to do this was to construct a narrative through the interview itself and take time to develop a list of questions that could encapsulate what Dan has done for students at Westminster. This story really helped me push my interviewing skills to a new level. I also reached out to those who worked closely with him to get the full scope of his impact on campus. I have taken my interview skills and have been able to transfer them to many different aspects besides journalism. I have found these skills to be really helpful in conducting user testing, general research, and has helped me better form questions for problem-solving.
